The Axis Syllabus study group is a place to explore the body in motion, to ask questions, to dance, to engage in ones own process and personal anatomical design. All bodies and experience levels are welcome.
Axis syllabus (AS) is a reference system of compiled research for movement with a focus on health, safety, efficiency and longevity of the human body. The goal being to work in harmony with the intelligent designs of nature and evolution through science and practice based research of anatomy, physics and biomechanics. BIO: René Smith is a movement artist currently residing in Portland Oregon. She was introduced to Axis Syllabus (AS) in 2004, and is currently working towards her teacher certification. Rene´ has studied a variety of dance forms including Butoh, dance improv, Aerial arts, and West African dance, and loves collaborating with other artists.
Emily Jones is a Portland based performer and movement teacher. She is passionate about understanding the body as a sustainable landscape for exploration and expression. Emily has been studying Axis Syllabus since 2013 and currently in the process of becoming a certified teacher.
