Class with Eric Nordstrom-Falling: Whether it is down towards the floor, up to the sky, or into the unknown, falling is an important part of Contact. Founded in the early 70's, Contact came from an era of movements including civil rights, women's liberation, and Vietnam war protest, which redefined the roles of race, gender and government. The long held preexisting social and political orders of that time fell apart. Instead of pushing towards or against a set outcome, CI asked then as it does now, how to be comfortable falling, trusting in our body's intelligence; investigating the possibilities of momentum, recovery, and reorganization that can emerge. Today, Black Lives Matter, the work for transgender equality, and protesting a corrupt and self-serving president, continue to redefine preexisting structures of race, gender and political orders. Finding comfort falling, feeling at ease in a body that is off center, and discovering what can emerge from the unknown is the focus for our class

Open contact jam sessions encourage focused practice of the form. Beginners are welcome and one on one instruction is available.

$7-10 / Drop-in
Stay for the jam for an additional $5
