Hosted by creative practitioners Judy Nahum, Cat Petru and Analysa Cantu-Martin.

Judy Nahum (she/her) is a Portland-based poet and dog mom who draws inspiration from ancestors, geography & language, and tiny precious moments. Her poetry chapbook “i have wrestled with the way clouds weep” was published in 2024 by Querencia Press. Judy invites a sense of wonder as we explore the ways beauty shows up, sometimes gently, sometimes unpredictably, amidst chaos and grief. You can follow her on Instagram @kismet_jude.

Cat Petru (she/her) In overwhelming times, Cat invites grounding, curiosity, playfulness, sweat & slowness in her dance classes. Infused with intention, her playlists are curated to move, inspire and nurture participants in body, mind and spirit. She encourages participants to let their bodies lead them; no formal dance experience needed! Her teaching is inspired by her mystical ancestors, practicing freedom, joy, and magic with our bodies. Cat’s love of movement and beauty extends to her work as an audio producer and storyteller. Learn more at catherinepetru.com

Analysa Cantu-Martin (she/her) is the founder of Joy Club, a celebration company where she serves as a celebrant and creative facilitator. She believes in the magic and power of being witnessed, celebrated, and fully expressed. Her work weaves together intuition, emotional presence, and years of experience supporting people through meaningful moments. Analysa created Careoke as an intentional singing experience for busy humans who crave fun, release, and authentic connection. She trusts that when we let our voices move through us, we remember we belong.

What to expect:

  • Arrive at FLOCK Dance Studio and follow signs for In Beauty Workshop.

  • Bring your favorite water bottle, notebook, writing utensils and wear dance-friendly clothing (shoes are optional).

  • Masks are optional. The space has air purifiers. Please lovingly stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness. Thank you!

  • Building is wheelchair accessible.

  • No ASL at this time.

  • Come with an open-mind and heart, as you are.

  • You are encouraged to participate in each modality (writing, dance and karaoke) although you can engage at your own comfort level. No element is mandatory.

  • This is not group therapy, but rather a space to reflect, express and share in guided community.

  • Please note: Careoke is a different kind of karaoke. It is not about performance or perfection, but about expression. It invites you to notice what it feels like to let your voice move through you. Before singing, participants are welcome to share what their chosen song means to them, so the room can witness the heart (the story and depth) behind the sound.
